Savannah Bee Company

You will be enchanted the moment you pass through the honeycomb shaped front door that greats with a 'Bee Well.'

A walk through the Louvre, an elevator up the Eiffel Tower and a gruelling climb up the stairs to the Arc De Triomphe. Is this the Paris you have planned to…

Savannah Bee Company offers lots of things to 'eat' even though we mainly shopped.  I visited their flagship store in Historic Savannah.  If you walk to the back of the shop, you will discover a Mead Tasting Bar.  There are six meads to try that are staples of their Mead Bar and the experience will be much like a wine-country wine tasting.  It's a tasty, educational experience.

Up front of the store is a honey tasting, which led to my walking out with an armload full of gifts for friends and family.   While I was there, a Savannah Food Tour group crowded in the door and the employee we had been entertained by (was he the owner?) launched into one of the most impassioned and knowledgeable presentations on the honey he offered for tasting.  It was great to be a bystander in that moment.

What I find most endearing about the shop is it's built out of a true passion for saving the bees by educating people about the crucial role they play in the pollination of our food chain. Mid-store, you can save a bee by donating $1.  You will receive an official adoption scroll for it.  Better than that, you make a difference.

This store is an interesting microcosm:  rescuing bees, tasting mead, tasting honey....and they have a cute little playspace for kids, shelves of wonderful bee-based body care products, beeswax candles, local bee art and jewelry.   I found this cute thing called a 'Pollinator Push Garden' which reminded me of push-up ice cream pops I used to get from the ice cream truck when I was a kid.  These instead are filled with a nutrient-rich growing medium and a variety of wildflower seeds specifically meant to attract bees.  Give them something to eat!

How cute is it that the wooden frame of the screen on the front door of the shop is a honeycomb pattern!? (makes it easy to identify where the honey is!).  I visited them in Savannah.  They also have beautiful retail outlets in Bedford Square Westport Connecticut, the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, Colorado and Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida.
